New Framework for Character Education in Universities
The Oxford Character Project and the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues have recently produced a new framework entitled Character Education in Universities: A Framework for Flourishing, which explains why universities should focus on educating character to promote flourishing of individuals and their communities. Dr. Michael Lamb, Executive Director of the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest, served as a consultant on the framework. Lamb, who is also a Research Fellow with the Oxford Character Project, spent two years helping to launch the Oxford Character Project before joining Wake Forest.
The Program for Leadership and Character maintains a robust partnership with the Oxford Character Project, resulting in two international conferences, Cultivating Virtue in the University and The Arts of Leading: Perspectives from the Humanities and Liberal Arts. They are currently planning a co-sponsored conference on “Character and the Professions,” to be held at Wake Forest on March 18-20, 2021.
