Bio
Michael Prinzing is a Research and Assessment Scholar for the Educating Character Initiative, as well as Consulting Research Scientist for the Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the ECI in 2024, he received a PhD in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (in 2022) and held postdoctoral positions at Yale University and Baylor University. Broadly speaking, his research is about the good life, what it means to lead a good life and how we can help each other to do so. Accordingly, his work investigates both fundamental questions about the nature of virtue, well-being, meaning, etc., as well as more applied questions about how people can pursue these things in their own lives. Blurring traditional disciplinary boundaries, this work draws on methods from philosophy, cognitive science, and social and personality psychology.
