Mike Smith is the president at Kane Realty Corporation, a leading real estate development firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He joined Kane Realty in 2001 and provides leadership oversight of development, management, and financing. Earlier in his career he was vice president at Bank of America Securities’ Capital Markets Group and managing director at PNC Capital Markets. He is also active in the broader North Carolina community, serving on the boards of St. David’s School, Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Raleigh Alliance, Midtown Raleigh Alliance, and the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau. Among his many recognitions for his community service is his award of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the most prestigious honors presented by the Governor of North Carolina.

Mr. Smith is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He and his wife, Mary Dee, formerly served as chairs of the Wake Forest University Parents’ Council. He also previously served the University as a member of the Council of Chairs and the Alumni Council’s Executive Committee. A supporter of the Program for Leadership and Character, he and his wife endowed a Leadership and Character Scholarship in 2019.
