Candy Ergen is a cofounder of Dish Network, formerly EchoStar Communications. Since 1980, she has had a variety of operational responsibilities at EchoStar, including service on the board of directors until 2008 when the company split into EchoStar and Dish Network. She is now a senior advisor and serves on the Dish Network board. She earned her B.S. in education from Indiana University and a master’s in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Ms. Ergen is married to a Wake Forest alumnus and is the parent of two Wake Forest graduates. In 2009, she was elected to the Wake Forest University Board of Trustees and is currently serving her third term. She also has long engagement with the Children’s Hospital Colorado, serving as a member of the board of trustees from 2001 to 2012 and now an honorary lifetime member. In 2018, she and her husband, Charlie, signed the Gates-Buffett Giving Pledge.
