Krista Tippett is a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster, writer, and social entrepreneur. She created and hosts On Being, the acclaimed public radio show and podcast that explores great questions of meaning in twenty-first century life. Drawing artists, scientists, writers, and theologians of all backgrounds, Ms. Tippett engages her guests in conversations at the interplay of spiritual inquiry, moral imagination, and common life, never shying from complexity. The weekly program airs on over 400 stations across the country and has been downloaded globally over 300 million times. A graduate of Brown University and a former Fulbright Scholar, she began her career in Cold War Berlin as a foreign news journalist and diplomat. Her subsequent time at Yale Divinity School inspired her to create On Being.
In 2013, in response to the wide and diverse listenership the program was gaining and the cultural impact it was having, Ms. Tippett founded an independent non-profit to grow this work and evolve it. The On Being Project is a media and public life initiative dedicated to nurturing the connections between inner life, human relationship, and social healing. Ms. Tippett is also the author of three books, including the New York Times bestsellers Becoming Wise and Einstein’s God. For her contributions to the national discussion about “faith, ethics, and moral wisdom,” President Obama awarded her the National Humanities Medal in 2014.
