Anne Snyder

Anne Snyder is a widely published writer and the Editor-in-Chief of Comment, a magazine of public theology. She has dedicated her career to exploring questions of pluralism and moral coherence, institutional health and the demands and rewards of community in the 21st century. As host of Breaking Ground, a collaborative web commons created in 2020, Ms. Snyder has created a space for scholars and practitioners to discuss and clarify the big questions crystalized by the major crises of the year. She previously directed The Philanthropy Roundtable’s Character Initiative, a program that helps American foundations and philanthropists advance character formation through their giving. Ms. Snyder is also a 2020 Emerson Collective Fellow, Senior Fellow at The Trinity Forum, and a Fellow at the Urban Reform Institute.
Ms. Snyder is the author of The Fabric of Character: A Wise Giver’s Guide to Renewing our Social and Moral Landscape, which featured Wake Forest as a model for holistic education. She has also written for The Atlantic Monthly, City Journal, The Washington Post, and other publications. Earlier in her career, she worked at The New York Times, World Affairs Journal, and the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Ms. Snyder holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s from Wheaton College (IL).
