Alex Sink is the former Chief Financial Officer for the state of Florida. Elected in 2007, she monitored Florida’s fiscal health and managed more than $74 billion in annual tax revenue. In 2010, she came within 60,000 votes of becoming Florida’s first female governor in one of the closest races in election history. Ms. Sink entered politics after a distinguished 26-year career at Bank of America, where she was ultimately President of Florida Operations. She has worked throughout her career to empower the next generation of leaders. In 2008, Ms. Sink founded Ruth’s List to help elect more women to public office and, in more recent years, has focused her efforts on cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship across the state. She is on the board of directors and was immediate past chair of Tampa Bay Wave, a startup technology incubator, and she founded the Florida Next Foundation, a nonprofit supporting small businesses and budding entrepreneurs. An inductee of the Tampa Bay Business of Hall of Fame, she was named Florida Citizen of the Year by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service in 2020.

Ms. Sink has shared her executive leadership and fundraising talents on numerous nonprofit and for-profit boards, including United Way Worldwide Leadership Council, Raymond James Financial, and the Florida chapter of the Nature Conservancy. She currently serves as co-chair of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition Florida Advisory Committee. A graduate of Wake Forest, she has served the University in various capacities, having been first elected to the Board of Trustees in 1992. She received the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1993 and was elected a Life Trustee in 2017.
