Dan Bryant is the executive vice president of global public policy and government affairs at Walmart. Since joining the company in 2015, he has led Walmart’s international and domestic policy planning and advocacy efforts and has represented the company in the U.S. Congress, the White House, and federal agencies. Previously, Mr. Bryant was a partner at the global law firm, Covington & Burling, where he chaired the Public Policy and Government Affairs Practice group. Mr. Bryant’s work focuses on finding the intersection of the public, consumer, and business interests, and advancing policy that reflects the intersection of those interests. Mr. Bryant began his career in federal government working in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, and then served at the U.S. Department of Justice as Assistant Attorney General both for Legal Policy and Legislative Affairs. He also served as counselor to the Attorney General, and received the Edmund Randolph Award, the highest award the U.S. Department of Justice confers on attorneys. He later joined PepsiCo, where he led the company’s global public policy efforts. Dan Bryant is named among the 500 Most Influential People in Washington, DC by the Washingtonian in 2023.

Mr. Bryant earned his bachelor and law degrees from American University and holds a master’s from the University of Oxford. He has taught at Columbia Law School and George Washington University’s School of Law. A life member of the Council of Foreign Relations, he sits on the boards of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and the Council of the Americas. Dan also serves on a variety of education-related nonprofit boards and the Wake Forest University’s Parents’ Council. He and his wife are parents of three Wake Forest students.
