Zack Loveless is the Senior Program Officer for the Educating Character Initiative. Through the ECI, he assists university faculty and staff in developing character-focused programming and integrating it into their specific contexts, as well as building cultures of character at their institutions. Before joining the ECI, Zack worked as Director of Programming and Operations at Hyde Park Institute, where he developed and led character education programs within curricular and co-curricular spaces for students at the University of Chicago. In addition, he was a Lecturer in the Humanities Collegiate Division and Instructor in the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies at the University of Chicago. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Auburn University, a M.A. in Character Education from the University of Birmingham, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago. His current research centers on effective character education practices in the classroom and in pre-professional development, the cultivation of practical wisdom, and the relation of moral virtue to other kinds of virtue.
