“Leadership for Environmental Justice” with Brahm Ahmadi
How do we make fresh, healthy food available to all people? How do we understand the root causes of inequity in the food system as well as the environmental repercussions? Food justice advocate and co-founder of People’s Grocery and People’s Community Market in Oakland, California, Brahm Ahmadi explored these questions and others in conversation with Dedee DeLongpré Johnston, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wake Forest on October 28. By sharing his own moral and vocational journey, Ahmadi stressed the need for leaders who prioritize justice and equity in their communities while emphasizing the time and work required to truly understand the roots of injustice in any given context.
This virtual event was co-sponsored by the Program for Leadership and Character and the Office of Sustainability. To learn more about Ahmadi’s work and some guiding principles of food justice, view the Community Foods Market site here.
