U.S. Senator Speaks about Leadership and Character

Wake Forest alumnus Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina spoke with a small group of students on November 11 as part of his visit to his alma mater. The current Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Sen. Burr has served five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and is currently serving his third term in the U.S. Senate. He spoke about leadership, character, and public service with a diverse group of students from a variety of departments and student organizations. The conversation was moderated by Dr. Michael Lamb, Director of the Program for Leadership and Character.

That evening, Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia joined Sen. Burr and Wake Forest Professor of Law and Associate Provost Kami Chavis for an engaging discussion of the senators’ bipartisan leadership of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and how they are addressing some of our country’s most pressing challenges. The public conversation was the first event of the new Burr Center for Legislative Studies.
